National Day Parade preview goes off with a bang

SINGAPORE: Marina Bay came alive on Saturday as a rainbow of colours lit up the sky at the preview of the National Day Parade.

Thousands of spectators in and around the parade venue were excited witnesses to the energetic burst of colours.

Major Sean Tan, chairman, fireworks, National Day Parade, said: "This year, what we have conceptualised is to bring the fireworks nearer to the audience.

"We will be firing from a concentrated platform within Marina Bay itself and in so doing, anyone within the bay area, even if you do not have a NDP ticket, will be able to enjoy the high—level fireworks with the rest of Singapore."

Before the parade proper, colourful, pyrotechnic displays greeted spectators, and it was the first time organisers have introduced a symphony of lights before sundown.

The night ended off spectacularly with a grand finale where the parade participants could see the letter ’S’ in the sky, signifying ’Shine Singapore Spirit’.
